Tools are an essential part of the construction, and now crane has become an integral part of this world. Without a crane, most of the loads would be stuck or not placed correctly. These are complex machines that move heavy loads in different directions.
As the technology has advanced, so have the cranes mechanisms. To meet the demands of construction, cranes have evolved over time crafted to perform specific functions with ease. Now, these are much more user-friendly and can lift much heavier items than before.
Let’s look at the different types of cranes which now aid construction and other related jobs.
SINGLE GIRDER CRANES
A single girder crane has only one glider across its span They can be managed through pendent and Radio Remote but they cannot be operated through an operating cabin. Single Girder cranes are used mostly in light loads shifting, lifting, etc., and for handling normal material with standard working conditions. They seem difficult to maintain but are cheaper than most of the cranes available in the market.
DOUBLE GRIDER CRANES
Double Girder Cranes has two main Girders across the span. It consists of a crab mechanism that travels above both girders and runs over cross travel rails with the platform to maintain all parts of the crab. Double Girder Cranes have both sides platforms across the main girders for maintenance purposes and platforms for crab maintenance. They also come with under-bridge lights, to work accurately at night. Double Girder Cranes can be operated by pendent, Radio Remote, and operating Cabin, all kind of operation facility is available. This is a heavy-duty crane and can be used in all types of applications for handling material, even when the atmosphere is very critical. They are easy to maintain but are a bit costly.
GANTRY CRANES
A gantry crane is a type of overhead crane with a single or double girder configuration supported by strong pillars like legs that move on wheels. They are usually brought for use when there is a reason not to incorporate an overhead runway system. Gantry cranes are designed in a way that is simple yet can give benefits of maximum usability. With their specially designed steel structure, they can be used easily in all kinds of buildings and work areas, both indoors and outdoors. A compact hoist makes the most of your existing workspace, providing a bigger work area around the crane. They are not supported by building structures and can be used independently, that’s why they are the primary choice for bridge construction sites.
JIB CRANES
Jib cranes are like overhead lifting devices that are often used in smaller areas for repetitive and unique lifting tasks. Jib cranes are extremely versatile and can also be paired with overhead bridge cranes to speed up and lift heavier things faster too. These are safe cranes, that increase productivity and reduce workplace accidents. Jib cranes are preferred for their speed, precision, productivity, and most importantly safety.
GOODS LIFT
Goods lifts can in simple words be called elevators, and these kinds of cranes are especially used in industries. They are widely used in construction sites, automotive industries, garage or service stations, electrical and power services, wire and cable industries, manufacturing industries, inventory management, painting, and many others. Goods Lifts serve as an efficient lifting platform to raise and position goods and services.
The most important part of a crane is that it should be sturdy, and be able to perform your tasks without hassle. Though some of them are difficult to transport, they do make work effortless and would prove to be much more economic in the long run. Cranes are now essential in the construction and manufacturing sectors but are fast finding their place in other sectors as well.
